Relocating from El Paso to Austin, and later, Austin to New York, Ken has used that time and mileage to find his own voice in music, and create songs that comment on the emotional stirrings that come from a life filled with colorful characters, near-death experiences, and very bad public transportation.
For any musician, it would come as no surprise that the #1 question asked of Ken, is to describe the style of music he creates. This is the most popular to ask, and the most difficult to answer.
Not quite country. Not quite jazz. Somehow, this Texas native manages to tap into everything from Flamenco to Motown, Classical to Disco, Blues to Folk, and create an adventurous sound all his own.
Borrowing from his years as a flamenco guitarist, Beasley presents his rootsy compositions on a nylon-string guitar in unique finger-style rhythms. The forms blend seamlessly to produce a mood that’s traditional, yet exciting & fresh.
